Artist Statement:

For over 50 years, I have painted the Vermont landscape with its trees, mountains; its many brooks and lakes; all liberally sprinkled with charming little villages. I can never resist the call of the back roads and where they might lead. I am also drawn to the sea; more specifically the coast of Maine. For many years I have been going there; observing and trying to capture the many moods of that rugged coast.

I teach at my gallery and studio at 56 Terrill St. in Rutland, Vermont. I tell my students that their canvas becomes a mirror of their soul. Each year I have participated in many juried shows throughout New England.

In 2007, my painting "Majesty in the Forest", a 30 x 40 inch oil, was chosen by jury to go to Washington D.C. as part of the Capitol Christmas Tree Project. The tree was chosen from the Green Mountain National Forest near Bennington, VT. I went to Washington to unveiled my painting. While there, I attended the Tree Lighting ceremony on the Capitol lawn and an invitation only reception at the Botanical Gardens. It was a trip of a lifetime and a memory I will always treasure. It was my gift to the nation and hangs in the in the building of the U.S. Forest Service.

My art affiliations include Chaffee Art Center, Southern VT Art Center , VT Watercolor Society, VT Handcrafters, VT Arts Council , VT Crafts Council. Also locally my work can be viewed in Timco Gallery in downtown Rutland as well as my own gallery and studio (by appointment). My work is in private collections in most of the United States and around the world. In 2011 I became a signature member of the VT Watercolor Society. I participated in the HeARTs of Rutland, and Rutland Trains projects as well. Most recently, I have lead instruction in acrylics at Chaffee's popular Sip n' Dip classes.
